Biography

JIRI VODICKA
born 1988, has studied violin from the age of six, attending the Primary Artistic School in Ostrava-Vitkovice, Czech Republic. Since 2000, he has studied with Professor Zdenek Gola, and, in addition, has recently joined Professor Gola's violin class at the Institute of Arts, Ostrava University.

Jiri Vodicka was awarded First Prize in the following national and international competitions: Czech Nationwide Competition for Primary Artistic Schools, the Kocian International Violin Competition, Prague Junior Note, Violin Competition (Dolny Kubin), the Beethoven International Violin Competition in Hradec nad Moravici, and the 2004 4th Internationsl Louis Spohr Competition for Young Violinists in Weimar, Germany.

As a soloist, Jiri Vodicka has performed in many concerts throughout the Czech Republic with the Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra, Ostrava; Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra, Zlín; Slovak Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Bohdan Warchal; and with Chamber Orchestra Camerate Janacek. He has also played many concerts in foreign countries including Sweden , Poland , Germany , Slovakia , Austria , Spain , Japan and China.

In his solo recitals and chamber music concerts, Jiri Vodicka includes compositions from various music periods, ranging from Baroque to the compositions of the most contemporary composers. Mendelssohn, Paganini, Lalo, Wieniawski, Dvorak, Sibelius and Mozart, among many other composers,
are featured in Mr. Vodicka's repertoire.



PETR NOUZOVSKY

Education
From 2007 Petr Nouzovský has been studying at the Hochschule in Dresden with Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt. In 2003 he graduated from the Prague Conservatory where his professors were Jiří Bárta and Jan Páleníček. During his studies he attended master classes under the violoncellists Mstislav Rostropovich, David Geringas (Kronberg Academy 2005), Ralf Kirschbaum, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Miklos Perényi, Tobias Kühne, Evan Drachman, Joel Krosnick, Phillip Muller, Franz Helmersson (TIHMS), Johannes Goritzky (TIHMS), Harro Ruisenaars (TIHMS), Eleonore Schoenfeld and Boris Pergamenschikov and also had private lessons with Stanislav Apolín.

Achievements so far
In April 2005, Petr was selected to represent the Academy of music at the Honorary Degree Ceremony at the Prague Carolinum, which was attended by the president of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus.
Recently, after sending his record of Dvořák Cello Concerto in B minor to the USA, he was invited to Los Angeles for the Gregor Piatigorsky Seminar for Cellists (second time).
He has obtained a scholarship for the Holland Music Session in the Nederland. Furthermore he was on the ‘Primary list of youth’ for three years and got a scholarship from foundations such as Bohuslav Martinů, Czech Music Fund and Musica Iuvenis.
He is a laureate of competitions such as the Concertino Praga, the Competition of Bohuslav Martinů and Competition in Liezen in Austria, International Competition in Brno City. He is The International Holland Music Sessions Worldtour Laureaat

Recitals:
Amsterdam - Concertgebouw, Den Haag – Theater Diligentia, Prague - Rudolfinum, Bratislava – Philharmony hall, Moscow and St. Petersburg).

Festivals
He attended many musical festivals, for instance the Festival Talentinum in Zlín (2002), Young Prague (2003, 2004, 2006), Kammermusic festival in Bolzan, Young Podium, Pražské komorní slavnosti, Kyoto InternationalMusic Student Festival, Prague spring (2005, 2007, 2009) and Martinů festival. In 2005 he performed his solo recital at the Prague Spring festival and also at its press conference to commemorate the festivals’ 60th year.

Cooperation

He cooperated with numerous orchestras such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bohuslav Martinů, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, Slovak Philharmony, Theatre Opera Orchestra, etc.
Also he has played with the Stamic Quartet, violinist Václav Hudeček (David Oistrach’s pupil) and harpsichord player Monika Knoblochová, with whom he recorded the complete collection of Bach sonatas for the Cube Bohemia Company).
He has also contributed to the popular music field where he worked with singers such as Marta Kubišová or Rod Stewart (Spain, Portugese).

Present and plans
Presently Petr is recording for the Czech radio, with which he also broadcasted his Dvořák Cello Concerto in h minor as his graduation concert from the Prague Conservatory in November 2004.

He is planning a tour around Spain (2009) and Japan (before 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008). Furthermore he is preparing another cooperation with the harpsichord player Monika Knoblochová (new CD for CUBE Bohemia label, recordings for Czech Radio – Bach, Vivaldi etc.), recording for Albany Records, many concerts with orchestras, solo recitals (Spain, Italy) or chamber music.

Repertoire
His repertoire is hugely varied. As well as the classic violoncello compositions (Schumann, Shostakovich, Dvořák, Debussy, Beethoven, Bach, etc.) he also interprets the work of modern composers (Gubaidulina, Reynolds, Pärt, Messiaen etc).

Petr plays on the ‘Miroslav Komár 2003’ and "Jean Baptiste Vauillaume 1835" violoncello.
